Mobile App Set-up FAQ's


  1. 1. How to download the mobile app?

    Once the mobile app is downloaded and installed on your device, the Direct Express icon will be added to your device.

    TIP: This Mobile app will only work with Direct Express cards that begin with 5115 63.
  2. 2. How to log into the mobile app?

    TIP: If you have already created a Username and Password to access your account on the web (https://cma-ch.mycardplace.com/cholder/welcome), use the same credentials to Sign in to the mobile app:

    1. Open the Direct Express App on your device
    2. Click on "Sign in"
    3. Enter your User ID
    4. Enter your Password
    5. Click: Sign In
  3. 3. How to Activate your Direct Express Card using mobile app?

    TIP: If your Direct Express card is not active, you can use the mobile app to activate your card.
    1. Open the Direct Express App on your device
    2. Click on "Activate / Register Card"
    3. Enter your 16 digit Card Number

      • Enter Card Number
      TIP: This mobile app is for cardholders whose card number begins with 5115 63. You can click and hold the "eye" icon on the right hand side of Card Number, to view & check the card number you just entered.
    4. Select two requested security images in the box below to verify.

      • Click on each image
      TIP: Once you select the two images the "Next" button will turn orange, allowing you to move to the next step.
    5. Click Next.

      The mobile app will ask you to enter information for your Card Account Verification.
    6. Enter Security Code (or CVV )

      • Click Done
      TIP: The security Code or CVV, is the 3-digit code at the back of your card to the right of the signature panel
    7. Enter the last 4 digits of your SSN

      • Click Done
    8. Click: Next

      The mobile app will now ask you to Set New PIN for your card:
  4. 4. How to Set your Direct Express Card PIN?

    TIP: PIN cannot have repeated or sequenced numbers (ex. 1111, 1234, 4321). Always keep your PIN secure and do not share it with anyone.
    1. Enter "New PIN". Click on the first digit to begin entering your PIN

      • Click Next
    2. Enter "Confirm New PIN". Click on the first digit under to begin entering Confirm New PIN

      TIP: Your PIN must be 4 digits. The value for your New PIN and Confirm New PIN must be same.
      • Click Next
    3. Click on "Set PIN"
    4. Your card will now be activated, and you will receive a "Card Activated Successfully!" message
    5. Click OK
  5. 5. How to Register (create your login credentials) using mobile app?

    TIP: If this is your first-time logging into your account via the Web or the Mobile app, you will need to Register your card and create login credentials for yourself.
    1. Open the Direct Express App on your device
    2. Click on "Activate / Register Card"

      The mobile app will ask you to enter card information:

    3. Enter your 16-digit card number in the top section.

      TIP: This mobile app is for cardholders whose card number begins with 5115 63. You can click and hold the "eye" icon on the righthand side of the Card Number, to view and check the card number you just entered.
    4. Select two security images in the box below

      • Click on each image
      TIP: Once you select the two images the "Next" button will turn orange, allowing you to move to the next step.
    5. Click Next.

      The mobile app will now perform "User Creation verification" and ask you for a PIN and Security Code or CVV.

      1. Enter your 4 digit Card PIN.

      2. Click Done.
      3. Enter your Security Code or CVV

        TIP: The security Code or CVV, is the 3 digit code at the back of your card to the right of the signature panel.
      4. Click Done
      5. Click Next

      The mobile app will next ask you for Account Information to create your User Credentials:

      1. Create and enter a User ID
      2. Enter your Email

        TIP: You will receive notifications and other important information about your account to this email
      3. Enter your Mobile Phone Number
      4. Enter Password

        TIP: Make sure your password meets contain below:
        1. Uppercase Letter
        2. Lowercase Letter
        3. Number
        4. At least one Special Character
        5. Minimum of 8 total Characters
      5. Enter Confirm Password

        1. Enter your password again
        TIP: You can click on and hold the "eye" icon on the right of each field to see your password to ensure it is what you entered.
      6. Click Submit

        The mobile app will now ask you for One Time Password verification:

        1. Select How you will receive your One Time Password (OTP), Click on Email or Mobile

          TIP: Your email address and mobile phone number are defaulted from information available against your profile. You may also enter a different email address or mobile phone here, if you like.
        2. Click on Continue
        3. Please check your email inbox, you will receive a 6-digit One Time Password (OTP).

          TIP: If you have not received your OTP, you can resend the code & reset the clock by pressing "Send Again"
      7. Enter the OTP in the field below
      8. Click Submit after you have entered the verification code.
      9. The account verification and setup processes are now complete and the mobile app will display message as per your provided information. You will see the success message "Account Setup has been completed successfully", if you have entered all information correctly.

        TIP: You are now good to log into the mobile application, using your User ID and Password. Refer to section How to log into the mobile app?
  6. Mobile App User ID Recovery Flow:

    Forgot your User ID?

    1. Follow these steps to recover your User ID

    2. Click on:

      1. Sign In

    3. Click on:

      1. Forgot? (to the right of the User ID entry area) Alternative access method:

      2. The bottom center circle with the 3 lines

    4. Click on:

      1. Forgot User

      2. Enter your 16 digit card number

        1. Click: Continue

      3. Select How you will receive your User ID

        1. Email or SMS (Text Message)

          1. Email and mobile # already on file in your profile

        2. Once you choose how to receive your User ID

          1. Click: Continue

      4. You will see a confirmation that your User ID has been sent to your Email or Mobile Device

    5. Enter your User ID on the Sign in Page

  7. Mobile App Password Recovery Flow:

    Forgot your User ID?

    1. Follow these steps to recover your Password

      1. TIP: Top right of the app will show your progress

    2. Start by clicking on:

      1. Sign In
    3. Click on:

      1. Forgot? (to the right of the password entry area)

      2. Enter your User ID (Case Sensitive)

        1. Click Continue

      3. Select How you will receive your temporary Verification Code

        1. Email or SMS - Text message

          1. Email and mobile # already on file in your profile

        2. Once you choose how to receive your temporary Verification Code

          1. Click: Continue

      4. You will receive an 8-digit Verification Code

        1. You can resend the code & reset the clock, once expired by pressing: "Send Again"

        2. Enter the Verification code in the field below,

          1. TIP: clicking on the first number field to begin to enter the code

        3. Click: Submit after you have entered the verification code

    4. Set New Password

      1. Choose and confirm your new password

        1. You must have one of each item below in your password

          1. Uppercase Letter

          2. Lowercase Letter

          3. Number

          4. Special Character

          5. Minimum of 8 total Characters

      2. Confirm your password

        1. Enter your password again in the Confirm Password field

          1. Passwords must match

        2. TIP: you can click on and hold the "eye" icon on the right of each field to see your password to ensure it is what you entered

      3. Click on:

        1. Save

        2. You will see a confirmation that you have successfully changed your Password

      4. Click on:

        1. Sign In

          1. Enter your User ID (Non-Case Sensitive)

          2. Enter your Password (Case Sensitive)

        2. Click on "Sign In" button to enter the Direct Express Mobile App
